more ideas for the magazine brief

 AUDIENCE RESEARCH

- primarily 16-25 year olds,

I have asked people of that age demographic what they're interested in - they typically like style inspiration from influencers rather than traditional celebs. focus on niche aesthetics, like Y2K, grunge, clean girl. integration with social media -tiktok, YouTube, instagram,

could also be interested in 90s/2000s revival fashion, coverage of cultural moments eg Kpop, anime inspired fashion.

INDUSTRIAL CONTEXT

Conde Nast was founded in 1909, the company initially focused on luxury and fashion publications. Acquired vogue in 1909. post WWII, its magazines played a role in shaping fashion, culture, and journalism. From 2020 to present, merged US and International operations for a more global approach.

codes and conventions of Vogue magazine: minimalist yet bold layou, large and striking masthead, high-end photography, cover star as focal point, typography- classic serif font. cover lines are short and elegant. fashion-forward styling- Chanel, Prada, Gucci. influence of French and Italian fashion items like chic, and pret-a-porter. also heavy on social media engagement. Targets a primarily upper-middle class to affluent reader.

https://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion - magazines on there feature a wide range of models, of different race/ethnicities.

this features an expensive look-

for my magazine I'm planning to include a 2000s throwback style as well as featuring an expensive look that gives off the same vibe as Gucci and vogue,

for my second cover- show a more lifestyle approach - intertextuality references to a famous popstar/influencer/celebrity.

also use two different models of a different race/diversity for a diverse approach- this would suit my 16-25 audience demographic.
