AUDIENCE RESEARCH
- primarily 16-25 year olds,
I have asked people of that age demographic what they're interested in - they typically like style inspiration from influencers rather than traditional celebs. focus on niche aesthetics, like Y2K, grunge, clean girl. integration with social media -tiktok, YouTube, instagram,
could also be interested in 90s/2000s revival fashion, coverage of cultural moments eg Kpop, anime inspired fashion.
INDUSTRIAL CONTEXT
Conde Nast was founded in 1909, the company initially focused on luxury and fashion publications. Acquired vogue in 1909. post WWII, its magazines played a role in shaping fashion, culture, and journalism. From 2020 to present, merged US and International operations for a more global approach.
codes and conventions of Vogue magazine: minimalist yet bold layou, large and striking masthead, high-end photography, cover star as focal point, typography- classic serif font. cover lines are short and elegant. fashion-forward styling- Chanel, Prada, Gucci. influence of French and Italian fashion items like chic, and pret-a-porter. also heavy on social media engagement. Targets a primarily upper-middle class to affluent reader. Appeals to aspirational readers with an interest in luxury, identity, and current culture, often blending fashion with politics, diversity, and social issue.
https://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion - magazines on there feature a wide range of models, of different race/ethnicities.
GENERAL RESEARCH
this features an expensive look-
.
.
.
for my magazine I'm planning to include a 2000s throwback style as well as featuring an expensive look that gives off the same vibe as Gucci and vogue,
for my second cover- show a more lifestyle approach - intertextuality references to a famous popstar/influencer/celebrity.
also use two different models of a different race/diversity for a diverse approach- this would suit my 16-25 audience demographic.

Research on Nida Manzoor:
Nida Manzoor is a British filmmaker and screenwriter best known for We Are Lady Parts (2021) and Polite Society (2023). Her work blends comedy, action, and music to challenge stereotypes about British-Pakistani identity. Rather than focusing on cultural struggles in a heavy-handed way, she presents confident, rebellious, and ambitious characters who exist outside of traditional expectations.
One of Manzoor’s biggest strengths is how she fuses different genres. We Are Lady Parts combines sitcom elements with musical storytelling, showing a Muslim punk band in a way that’s both fun and realistic. She researched underground music scenes and how British Muslim women navigate creative spaces, making the series feel fresh and authentic.
Similarly, Polite Society mixes martial arts, heist films, and coming-of-age drama. Manzoor uses action sequences to explore female empowerment in an exaggerated but entertaining way. The film also plays with Bollywood influences, reflecting a mix of British and South Asian storytelling traditions.

Manzoor’s work stands out because it moves away from outdated portrayals of British-Pakistanis. Instead of characters torn between tradition and modernity, she presents Muslim women as confident, flawed, and funny. We Are Lady Parts is particularly effective in showing the diversity within a single community—each band member has different views on religion, culture, and self-expression.
Her films also reflect how second-generation immigrants balance cultural identity. In Polite Society, Ria struggles between her passion for martial arts and her family’s expectations, a theme many first- and second-generation audiences relate to.

all about me
As I am from India, I really enjoy bollywood movies and is a central part to my culture, so I’ve included that. I also have family in singapore so I have included pictures of Singapore because it’s like my second hometown. I really like sushi and bubble tea and animals as well. Apps like Pinterest, Roblox, Webtoon, Spotify and Netflix are what I use in my free time. I even have a blog account in Pinterest where I post my travel photos! Chase Atlantic is one of my favourite bands and next year I'm going to see them in London!!
